There’s a lot of talk on mainstream TV about a V-shaped financial recovery (when things bounce right back). This feels fanciful IMO. The other options are “U” (like in 2008), “W” and the dreaded “L”. Obviously, no one knows the answer but now’s a good time to listen to smart people and decide for yourself. Listed below are a few videos I’ve found useful and entertaining while in lockdown.
Nouriel Roubini’s analysis of the coronavirus crisis
Economist Dr. Nouriel Roubini (“Dr. Doom”) gives his in-depth analysis of the coronavirus crisis and views of the risks caused by an underlying debt bubble.
Dollars, stocks & gold
I first came across Brent Johnson’s contrarian views on Real Vision Finance. He’s a super-smart guy that understands the dollar and macro-economic subjects better than most.
Ray Dalio on the consequences caused by coronavirus
Bloomberg interview famed hedge fund manager and philanthropist, Ray Dalio.
Unfunded pensions & the retirement crisis
I’ve yet to see someone explain the macro-picture as concisely as Brian Reynolds. Truly eye-opening.
Pandemic investing tips
Chris Macintosh is always a pleasure to listen to. You’re guaranteed to learn something from this guy.
The “Dollar Milkshake” theory
Brent Johnson discusses why he sees the dollar getting much stronger. According to Johnson “people should go out and buy equities not because things are good, but because things are so bad”.
